Law Practice Tip #294

Ingrained daily habits keep you organized

The best way to stay organized is to make it a daily, consistent, first priority habit to do the things that keep you organized. Those activities must be a habit or routine so ingrained that you don't deviate. Otherwise the task of getting organized keeps getting more and more difficult as the amount of effort to get organized gets greater.

Some of those daily routines or habits could be:

  • File things where they belong as you go along.
  • Empty your email inbox by the end of the day.
  • Straighten your desk before you have lunch.
  • Update your to-do list before you do anything else each morning.

What daily habits will you put first to help keep you organized?
