Coaching for Lawyers Law Practice Tips

Law Practice Tip #303
June 17, 2013

Show and tell your abilities to your contacts in order to build their confidence in you.

Help your contacts know what you’re capable of so they are confident you can perform the work they refer to you. Do this by finding ways to help your referral sources see you in action and/or hear stories about your competence and character.

Here are a few ideas to assist you in thinking of your own ways to help your contacts know more about you:

  • On your volunteer committee(s) or CLE presentations, meet your deadlines, go the extra mile, and do the job well.
  • Tell interesting stories of how you did something that proved valuable to a client.
  • Answer legal questions in group forums or list serves.
  • Forward your latest speaking engagement info to your contacts so they can see what expertise you have.

What will you do to build confidence in your abilities with your contacts or potential referrals sources?
